Healthy Ways To Drink Your Cup of Coffee

How do you fix your cup of Joe?

Many kickstart their day with a cup of coffee or drink it throughout their work day as they run from one task to the next. I definitely recommend coffee for an energy and metabolism boost, but your coffee can provide you with even more benefits if you fix it with healthy (and yummy) ingredients.

Many load their cup of coffee with 5 packets of sugar or 6 pumps of mocha syrup and 6 pumps of caramel, but high sugar content is only going to spike your blood sugar levels and cause you to crash pretty fast. Whole milk and cream can cause an imbalance of hormones or make you bloat, so it may be time to try some of the following healthier add-ins with your cup of joe.

Mix It Up with....

Choose Organic soy milk = protein

I always order my iced coffee with soy milk to add protein to my coffee. The plant-based protein is slower digesting than whey protein, which in return will help keep the body fuller longer.

Exchange your Frapp for a "Protein-uccino"

Skip the loaded caloric and high sugar frapps for a blended iced coffee with your personal protein powder packet. You can always ask them to blend it in for you.

Add cinnamon

Adding cinnamon to your daily cup of joe is like adding a daily dose of medicine. The spice is an anti-inflammatory and has antioxidants that have the power to fight infections and lower blood sugar levels. There are also studies that link cinnamon to help prevent cancer and help with cancer treatment.

STir In Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a trendy kick that may never go old, because it offers so many benefits to our bodies. It gives the coffee a buttery texture and does not hurt the flavor. Just keep in mind that oil is higher in calories.

Mix a Tablespoon of Cocoa

Cocoa powder also contains antioxidants and has the power to boost endorphins. Make sure to look for raw cocoa powder that is minimally processed in order to obtain the healthy benefits the powder has to offer.

Blend it in a smoothie

It's a two-in-one option to blend coffee into a smoothie to slurp your breakfast and cup of joe at the same time. There are several recipes you can find online.

Remember: The less sugar the better

Try your best to skip the syrup & sugars. If you MUST have sugar, then only use one packet of Sugar in the Raw or Stevia.

If you have a sweet craving, then ask your barista to only put in half the amount of sweetener and syrup.

The simplest way: Black

Should I say more? I usually drink my coffee black with my breakfast in the morning to kick start my day
